Forestry in Georgia has made great advancements since the establishment of a State Board of Forestry in 1921. Vital to the states environmental and economic welfare, the Georgia Forestry Commission has sought not only to encourage better forest land management, but also to educate the public. The Georgia Forestry Commission has faced many challenges since its inception and all challenges have been met with progress. The Commission stands solid in present accomplishments and looks toward a bright future in serving Georgia socially, environmentally, and economically.
